Theatrical trauma consultant and forensic psychologist, Dr Julia Langley, provides advice on getting creatives and audience care right when performing trauma and violence on stage.

This session focuses on how to prioritise artist and audience care in the way you develop and share your art. It aims to help you question and situate your art and theatre making, its purpose and its impact and provides you with an outline content audit to help you consider and reflect on your practice to help you ensure that you are not reinforcing harmful narratives or feeding into cultures of blame and are offering appropriate practical support and signposting for more information around the difficult sensitive topics your work covers.

This session will be relaxed throughout, providing the opportunity for you to ask as many questions as you like. 

This online event is FREE TO attend. It will take place via Zoom. Places are LIMITED.

ABOUT DR JULIA LANGLEY

Dr. Julia Langley is a Theatrical Trauma Specialist, Actor-Musician, and Forensic Psychologist who has worked with vulnerable children and adults for 10 years. She supports individuals and groups working in theatre around boundaries, self-care, trauma, and tackling difficult topics for creative teams and audiences. She also has expertise in offending, mental health, personality disorders, substance misuse, and Attachment theory. She is proficient in psychological assessment, evaluation and research, and has therapeutic training in humanistic counselling, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy and cognitive analytical therapy. Her research interests include victims’ decision making in reporting sexual violence to the police.
