The Ghost In The Machine: Writing with AI with Ali Matthews

Monday 9th May

4.30pm - 6pm

IN PERSON AT THE DUKES

How can we perform text birthed in part by a machine?

Do you find predictive text weird? Does Google Translate give you the creeps? Who (or what) is on the other end of these interactions which intrude more and more frequently on our everyday lives?

In this workshop, artist, Ali Matthews, will talk through her making process for creating her show, Bobby, Lunch is Darkness, covering techniques, including: finding a source of 'found' text, inputting text into a series of algorithms (don't worry, they won't bite), rewriting results to make dialogue flow more easily and performing the results. No experience of coding, internet art or formal creative writing required - all that you need is an open mind and an interest in writing, art or performance.

Please have a laptop, tablet or phone, and a notebook/pen to hand during this session.

This session will be relaxed throughout, providing the opportunity for you to ask as many questions as you like.

This event is FREE TO attend. Places are LIMITED.
